RA-NAV LABORATORIES, INC. has engineered, designed, and manufactured these items:

1. AN/GGM/21A; NSN: 6625-01-069-0955; NOUN: Teletypewriter Test Set:

The Test Set consists of two major components: a Teletypewriter Test Set, TS-3856/GGM21A and a Pulse Generator SG-1186/GGM21A.

The Pulse Generator SG-1186/GGM21A provides nine messages:

  1. Message A: 128-character test (1024 bits) message in American Standard for Information Interchange (ASCII).
  2. Message B: 128-character test (640 bits) message in  International Telegraph No. 2, American Variation Code.
  3. Continuous space.
  4. 1:1 Reversals.
  5. Continuous Mark.
  6. Selected Character Message.
  7. 32K Pseudo-random Test Pattern.
  8. 2K Pseudo-random Test Pattern.
  9. User Defined Program

The Generator has 8192 bits of programmable memory.

Telegraph distortion can be added to the output data signals in increments of 1% from 0 to 49% of the data unit interval at Baud rates lower than 9999.  At 10,000 or greater Bauds, the distortion can be added in increments of 10% from 0 to 40% of data unit interval.  Baud rate is from 30.00 to 99,990.

Teletypewriter Test Set TS-3856/GGM21A performs four major functions.  Average and Peak distortion monitoring/counting, Bit Error Rate determination with the ability to count errors and memory programming.

2. SG-1168/U; NSN: 6625-01-079-4203; NOUN: Sine-Wave Test Oscillator:

Frequency:  3 Hz - 1 MHz

Amplitude:  0 - 40V pk - pk

Distortion:   Less than -60db

3. REMOTE STATUS SYSTEMS (RSU):

This system consists of one UHF and one VHF broadband receiver, two antennas and one remote monitor.

The RSU is part of the instrument landing system used at airports throughout the United States, and is compatible with all systems up to the Mark 1-F.

The purpose of the RSU is to monitor both the frequencies and signal levels radiated by both the glide slope and localizer transmitters.  The RSU emits a visual and aural alarm in both the tower and transmitter site when the signal level decreases 1db below a preset level or when the frequency shift is greater than 0.01%.

This system is site inter-changeable and is done by simply changing the crystals (to another frequency) in the system.

4. PORTABLE ILS RECEIVER (PIR):

The PIR consists of one UHF and one VHF broadband receiver contained in the same case, two antennas, one twenty-four foot tripod and mast assembly, one unipod, and miscellaneous stands and hardware.

The PIR is used to set up the instrument landing systems.  It operates either off a self-contained NI/CAD battery or from an A/C outlet.  The PIR has a self-contained battery charger.  The PIR is capable of measuring the signal levels in microvolts.  It also detects and measures the difference in depth of two selected audio signals.  This unit is calibrated to allow the calibration of the audio modulated signal level at the transmitter without external equipment.

This unit is site inter-changeable and is done by simply changing the crystals (to another frequency) in the unit.

5. POWER SUPPLIES:
Ra-Nav Laboratories, Inc. has designed and manufactured many different types of power supplies, with various voltage and current configurations, and with power output requirements up to 2,000 watts.

6. WIRING HARNESS:

Ra-Nav Laboratories, Inc. has designed and manufactured many different types of wiring harness. These have ranged from very simple wire bundles up to very large and complex assembly’s such as the KC-135 Nav Safety, and the KC-135 Standard Flight Data Recorder Kit.
